NeoGen EVO.

NeoGen crest

Plasma technology that regenerates skin from within — without breaking the surface. A different category entirely.

Before & aftercare — how to prepare
NeoGen crest
i. The Technology

What is
NeoGen EVO?

NeoGen EVO converts inert nitrogen gas into plasma — the fourth state of matter. Delivered through gold-plated electrodes with no contact to the skin, a precise column of controlled thermal energy passes through the epidermis and concentrates in the dermis.

The epidermis stays intact throughout — acting as a natural biological dressing over the treated dermis below. This is fundamentally different from how every other energy device works. It's why the results, the recovery, and the risks look nothing like anything else.

ii. A Different Category

Not a laser.
Not a peel.
Not a needle.

Plasma is the fourth state of matter — distinct from solid, liquid and gas. NeoGen EVO is the first device to harness it for controlled skin regeneration. It fits no existing category in aesthetics medicine.

01

No surface contact

The plasma beam travels through air. Nothing touches the skin. Energy is delivered from a precise distance — consistent every time, regardless of technique.

02

Epidermis stays intact

Unlike ablative lasers and acid peels, the epidermis is not removed. It stays in place as a natural dressing, protecting the treated dermis while collagen synthesis begins below.

03

Dermal depth target

Controlled thermal energy concentrates in the dermis, where fibroblasts, collagen and elastin live. The depth is titratable by energy — from six cell layers at one joule to the papillary dermis at four. That’s where structural skin change actually happens.

04

Nitrogen to plasma

Ultra-high radio-frequency at 2.5 GHz ionises pure nitrogen gas into plasma. The output is calibrated, measurable and repeatable — not heat-spread approximation.

ii·b. Clearing It Up

What it isn’t.

“Plasma” is a word used for several very different things. To be completely clear, nitrogen plasma skin regeneration is none of these.

Not blood plasma

Nothing to do with the liquid component of blood, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP). This is the fourth state of matter — an ionised gas.

Not a plasma pen

Plasma pens arc a tiny electrical spark to a single point on the surface. NeoGen delivers controlled energy across the whole skin architecture, with no contact.

Not a laser

No light, no chromophore target, no vaporising of tissue. Plasma heats all skin components evenly and leaves the surface intact.

iii. How It Works

"A column of plasma,
on contact."

Four things happen in sequence — the electrodes, the conversion, the delivery, the dermal target. Each is precise. Each is consistent. None of it touches the surface of the skin.

iv. Depth of Action

Energy that reaches
the dermis.

Watch exactly where NeoGen EVO acts. A precise column of plasma energy passes through the epidermis and concentrates in the dermis — the surface protected throughout. Move the control between low and high energy to see the depth change.

Epidermis · Dermis · Subcutis — controlled thermal energy reaches the dermis with the epidermis intact

Through the surface,
not into it

The plasma does not vaporise or strip the epidermis. The intact surface is left as a natural protective dressing while energy passes beneath.

The work happens
in the dermis

NeoGen works two ways at once. At the surface, re-epithelialisation refreshes tone and texture. In the dermis, fibroblast stimulation drives neocollagenesis and elastin remodelling — new structure, laid down over months.

Results build for
twelve months

Because the surface is preserved, recovery is managed. Tightening and texture improvements continue building progressively — for up to twelve months and beyond.

v. Treatment Zones

Face to décolleté.

NeoGen EVO addresses a wide range of concerns across multiple zones — including the periorbital area where most energy devices cannot safely operate.

vi. The Comparison

NeoGen vs
CO₂ laser.

CO₂ laser remains a gold standard for skin resurfacing in surgical settings. But its ablative nature creates a different risk and recovery profile — one that NeoGen EVO fundamentally avoids.

NeoGen EVO — Plasma
Non-ablative — epidermis intact throughout
Calibrated downtime: days to two weeks maximum
Can treat periorbital safely — up to the lash line
Calibrated energy delivery — consistent, not operator-dependent
Safe for neck, décolleté and hands
Does not denature subcutaneous fat — no facial volume loss
Lower risk of hypopigmentation and scarring
Results continue improving for up to 12 months
CE · MHRA · FDA registered
CO₂ Laser — Ablative
Ablative — epidermis removed
2–4 weeks social downtime minimum; significant erythema
Cannot safely treat periorbital — ocular shields required, limited depth
Heat spreads laterally — less predictable in nonfacial skin
Limited application on neck/chest — risk of delayed healing
Risk of hypopigmentation, scarring, pigmentary alteration
Morbidity period: erythema, oedema, infection risk
Fitzpatrick I–III typically; high skin type risk
vii. Energy Levels

Calibrated to your
skin. Your life.

One technology. Three energy settings. The right level is chosen in consultation — based on your concerns, your skin, and what your schedule allows. Energy is titratable from a gentle fraction of a joule up to four joules at its ceiling — and because the pulse is so brief, handpiece temperature ranges from just 70°C at low energy to 168°C at maximum, controlled and cooled further by the air it travels through.

Low Energy

Regeneration & maintenance

Gradual regeneration with minimal social downtime. Suitable for ongoing skin health, subtle improvement and clients in the public eye who need to keep working.

Downtime: pinkness 1–2 days · Return next day
Medium Energy

Targeted remodelling

Addresses active concerns — texture, early laxity, mild scarring, pigmentation. A considered balance between visible result and manageable recovery.

Downtime: 3–5 days · Bronzing then fresh skin
High Energy

Structural transformation

Significant single-session remodelling. For deeper scarring, advanced laxity, periorbital lifting. Results are substantial. Recovery is real — and it's worth it.

Downtime: 1–2 weeks · Full guidance provided
NeoGen EVO recovery profile Day 1 to Day 8

Low–medium energy recovery · Day 1 to Day 8 · Light bronzing then fresh skin

Lower Energy

Pinkness and tightness for a day or two. Easily worn under make-up. The gentlest option for regular, cumulative treatment.

Medium Energy

Three to five days of light bronzing and tightness. Noticeable but manageable — clients typically resume normal activity from day four or five.

Higher Energy

Around one to two weeks of social downtime — bronzing, then gentle peeling — for the deepest structural result.

"The downtime is part of the result — not a flaw in it."
vii·b. The Recovery

A wound
without a wound.

Because the surface is never broken, recovery follows a predictable, protected path. The treated epidermis stays in place as a natural dressing while the new skin forms beneath it.

Day 0

Treated, intact

Immediately after treatment the skin is warm and flushed, but the surface is whole — no open wound, no bleeding. The desiccated epidermis becomes a biological dressing.

Day 4

Bronzing & renewal

The treated surface darkens and tightens as the regeneration beneath gathers pace. This is the skin working, not breaking down.

Day 10

Fresh skin revealed

The old surface flakes away to reveal renewed skin — while collagen and elastin continue rebuilding in the dermis for months afterward.

Skin
viii. The Eyes

Where nothing
else will go.

Most energy devices cannot safely treat the eyelid. Plasma can — working directly on the lid, up to the lash line, across the entire eye area with no ocular shields required.

For many clients this is the closest thing to surgical eye-lift results — without surgery, without general anaesthetic, without the associated recovery and risk. The periorbital area responds exceptionally well to nitrogen plasma at medium energy.

Good to Know

Questions, answered.

Is there any downtime?
Yes — plasma resurfacing involves several days of visible renewal as the skin regenerates, including a bronzed, flaking phase. Full aftercare guidance is given beforehand.
Is the treatment painful?
A numbing cream is applied and you'll feel warmth during treatment. It's very manageable.
When will I see results?
Significant renewal and tightening over the weeks following, with results continuing to improve for up to a year.
How many sessions will I need?
Often one to three, depending on the energy level and your goals.
What can it treat?
Plasma is cleared for a wide range of concerns — wrinkles and fine lines, acne and surgical scarring, skin laxity, sun damage, pigmentation and melasma, enlarged pores, stretch marks, actinic and seborrhoeic keratoses, and more, across the face, neck, chest, hands and body. The right approach is confirmed in consultation.
Who isn’t suitable?
Plasma isn’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with electronic implants such as a pacemaker, with active skin infections, certain autoimmune conditions, a history of keloid scarring, or within six months of oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane). A recent tan should also be avoided. Everything is reviewed thoroughly at consultation.
Before & Aftercare

Prepare well, heal well.

NeoGen is a clinical, practitioner-led treatment — more intensive than most, and with a real recovery. How you prepare and how you heal directly shape your result. This is the complete guide; we’ll also tailor it to your exact energy level and plan.

Before your treatment

A countdown — the weeks beforehand genuinely matter to how predictably your skin heals.

First — your medical history
Discuss your full medical history with us before treatment, and raise anything you weren’t sure was relevant at consultation. In particular, tell us if you have:

• used products to treat acne or facial wrinkles within 6 months of treatment
• a known history of, or think you may develop, keloid scarring
• used exfoliants in the 7 days before
• allergies to any medication, or sensitivity to any skincare
• ever experienced cold sores
• any other concerns at all
3 weeks before — protect from the sun
• Avoid excessive sun exposure and all tanning for at least three weeks beforehand.
• Apply an SPF 30+ zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sunblock to every area to be treated.
• A hat, sunglasses and sun-protective clothing all help to protect the skin — before treatment and after it.
1 week before — ease off the actives
• Stop all exfoliants — acids, scrubs, washes and anything that removes the outermost skin — in the week before.
• If you have just started a topical tretinoin (such as Retin-A) in the last month, we will advise you to discontinue use.
5 days before — hydrate, inside and out
• Moisturise day and night with a quality, non-irritating, unperfumed moisturiser — or use a water-based mask daily.
• Drink at least 2 litres of water a day and avoid anything dehydrating, such as alcohol.
• For higher-energy treatments we may prescribe medication to prevent infection afterwards — please obtain it and use it exactly as directed.

This isn’t an afterthought: NeoGen deposits its energy at the surface, and that heat then travels through the skin’s own moisture. Well-hydrated skin carries it evenly and predictably, which makes a real difference to both comfort and result.

After your treatment

The surface stays intact and becomes its own natural dressing. Recovery depends on the energy used — find your level.

Low energy — 2–3 days, minimal peeling
Keep the skin dry. If mild irritation persists, gently pat the area with cool water. Do not cleanse for 24 hours (or as directed); after that, a mild water-based cleanser is fine. Keep the skin out of the sun. When peeling has almost completed, rehydrate with a mild moisturiser.
Mid energy — 2–5 days, flaking & peeling
When peeling has almost completed, rehydrate with a mild moisturiser — applying it too soon can delay the peeling, and so delay recovery. We may ask you to use a barrier cream or gel. Otherwise, follow the same basic care as low energy.
High energy — 7–10 days, peeling from ~day 9
We may apply a barrier cream, or a similar alternative, to keep the treated skin moist. This can be removed gently after 24 hours, or as we advise. You may be asked to cleanse and reapply the barrier cream or gel twice a day for 2–3 days, depending on your treatment and how your skin reacts.
The first few days
The treated skin will look red and/or darker for the first few days, and you may experience some swelling. This is expected — if you’re concerned, just contact us.

Make-up & shaving: generally 2–3 days after treatment before you can apply make-up or shave, depending on whether you had a low- or high-energy procedure. Ask us when you can return to your normal activities.
The weeks after
Sun & tanning: avoid all sun exposure and tanning for at least 3–4 weeks. If exposed, protect the skin with a high-factor SPF and sun-protective clothing — and sunglasses, especially where the eyes were treated.

Exercise & temperature: for the first week, avoid anything that raises blood flow — exercise, or exposing skin to hot (sauna) or cold (winter sports) temperatures.
The golden rules
• Don’t expose treated skin to the sun.
• Don’t pick the flaking skin — allow it to detach when it’s ready.
• Don’t moisturise actively peeling skin; it may delay healing. Once peeling has nearly finished, a mild moisturiser is right.
• Don’t touch the treated area except to cleanse or reapply barrier cream — with clean hands.
• No harsh or exfoliating products, medications or scrubs.
• Don’t wear clothing that could rub or irritate the area.
• Keep pets away from the treated area until it has healed.
• After a facial treatment, sleep slightly raised and change your bedding daily.
• Avoid contact with anyone who has any kind of infection, especially skin conditions.
• If we’ve prescribed antibiotics or other medication, take them exactly as advised.

If you’re ever unsure, or think you’ve had a reaction to treatment, contact us as soon as possible — we’d always rather hear from you.

x·b. The Maker

Twenty years
in the making.

NeoGen is made in the United Kingdom by Energist — the founding and leading global provider of nitrogen plasma technology, with over two decades in medical aesthetics. The platform began as the Portrait PSR, was taken forward by Energist in 2010, relaunched as the PSR in 2013, and refined into the EVO generation now used in clinics worldwide.

Across hundreds of practitioners and hundreds of thousands of treatments, it holds an exceptional safety record — backed by ISO 13485, CE, FDA and international medical certification.

xi. The Evidence

Backed by
real science.

NeoGen technology has been studied in peer-reviewed clinical trials across multiple conditions and skin types. The results are consistent.

Histology · Day 90

New collagen, correctly aligned.

Under polarised microscopy at ninety days, a distinct zone of new collagen is visible beneath the dermal–epidermal junction. The new fibres run perpendicular — the signature of true structural remodelling, not surface change. This is what “a wound without a wound” produces underneath.
